It would be nice story if www.birthsdeathsmarriages.ie was e-Government at work. But they are a private company taking advantage of e-Government not being put in place.

GRO Ireland look after the registration of births, marriages and deaths in Ireland. They have a website (http://www.groireland.ie) but no online ordering facility. At one stage they thought they were going to have an online facility by 2005, but that idea has disappeared in the mists of time. At present, they do not recommend any other agency for online ordering.

www.birthsdeathsmarriages.ie saythat they are "Ireland's only Official Irish Certificate Online Service"

Another Irish site site, www.irishcerts.ie, says they are " Ireland's Premier Official on-line Certificate Service"

There are even sites in the UK providing Irish Certificates in the same way. Just google 'Irish Birth Certificates' . But none of them are e-Government.

Regards
